I read two books the past two days against modern day liberalism. This is not to be confused with classical liberalism. Modern day liberals take a lot of ideas from the late 19th century such as Marxism, Trotskyism, Darwinism, etc.
The first was “Godless” by Ann Coulter. I was excited to read the book because I thought it would be like “Treason” and rationally explain how liberalism, or socialism, seeks to replace religion. Instead, it was a rant and rave against the media and a huge section on dismissing Darwinism. (In college, I was always taught that Darwinism is a THEORY. I studied physical anthropology and am aware that the missing link has not been found yet) What does the 9/11 widows have to do with the dangerous philosophy of Socialism? I agreed with her points, but was disappointed that her point was not made more rationally. There were too many rants and too many attempts to be “witty”. I am tired of the witty act and wait for her to write in an intelligent manner. The point that liberalism seeks to replace God and that is why they are dangerous got lost through all of the bad jokes and asides. Sorry that this isn’t the best review, but I hope I made my point.
The second is “The Road to Serfdom” by Frederich von Hayek. WOW!! I am still in the middle of reading this (online unfortunately) but I am very impressed by Hayek’s writing.
Check this out- “The character of the danger is, if possible, even less understood here than it was in Germany. The supreme tragedy is still not seen that in Germany it was largely people of good will, who, by their socialist policies, prepared the way for the forces which stand for everything they detest. Few recognize that the rise of fascism and Nazism was not a reaction against the socialist trends of the preceding period but a necessary outcome of those tendencies. Yet it is significant that many of the leaders of these movements, from Mussolini down (and including Laval and Quisling) began as socialists and ended as fascists or Nazis. In the democracies at present, many who sincerely hate all of Nazism’s manifestations are working for ideals whose realization would lead straight to the abhorred tyranny. Most of the people whose views influence developments are in some measure socialists. They believe that our economic life should be “consciously directed,” that we should substitute “economic planning” for the competitive system. Yet is there a greater tragedy imaginable than that, in our endeavor consciously to shape our future in accordance with high ideals, we should in fact unwittingly produce the very opposite of what we have been striving for?” (from http://jim.com/hayek.htm)
So it isn’t the Conservatives, but the Liberals who are the real Nazis?
I am enjoying this a lot more than Ann Coulter. More rationale than rant.
I will continue reading more about Hayek and to read “The Road to Serfdom”. I hope to write out someday how Socialism and modern Liberalism is indeed a religion seeking to overthrow the right of people to believe in God. Once you destroy God, the government is your God.

I watched Ann Coulter on The Tonight Show last night. It was nothing new. She basically said all of the things I heard her say on Fox News. There wasn’t even a debate with George Carlin. Just Ann Coulter saying bad jokes. Like I said before, she writes much better than she speaks. When she speaks she seems to get nervous and she tries too hard.
I am also tired of everyone thinking that the Conservatives have a spokesperson. Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter do not speak for the right wing Conservatives. Conservatism is not organized around an intellectual elite like the leftists. Conservatives pride themselves on being individualistic rather than being an activist group. Ann Coulter has the freedom to be as rude as she wants to be. That is her way of expression. My way would be different, and I may not even agree with everything she writes about. That does not mean that I can’t enjoy her books and columns!

Jay Leno scheduled Ann Coulter and George Carlin for Wednesday night’s show. I’ve got to see that!!
To be honest though, I am tired of all of the Ann Coulter hype. The liberals’ attacks are further bringing Coulter publicity for her book. I wanted to read her book anyway. I have read all of them and very much enjoyed them. This publicity makes me NOT want to buy it. I did not want the book because her face was on television on a daily basis almost welcoming the liberals to prove her book correct. Ok, I get it!! You can’t attack the use of “human shields”. Liberals really will attack you.
I must say I enjoy her books and columns much more than I do her interviews. (even though she says what many people are thinking anyway)
Well, these attacks on Coulter definitely prove that a culture war is going on, even though right now it just seems like more of a Coulter war.
Anyone who shoves back in the liberals’ faces their tactics and lies, are personally attacked by the media. Where was the media when Al Frankin and Michael Moore used similar tactics? They were almost looked upon as heroes! Ann Coulter is one who should be censored and banned according to many in the media. There is even a columnist who wished Ann Coulter would kill herself. (though I know he was just joking)

She exposes the use of victimhood by the left, though in a mean way, and now we have to daily hear the media attack her. They are the Salem community out for a witchhunt. They found their witch, and like my favorite quote from “The Holy Grail” want to “BURN HER!!!!”

It was written in 1992, but its description of the history of immigration in the United States is still very much relevant. I haven’t read it yet, but Brimelow, himself an immigrant, states that the United States never intended to be a multiculturalist society. He also writes about the trend in multiculturalism and bilingual education in the schools. After reading about Gramsci, my interest has peaked even more about these educational methods. As a former teacher, (I am now a full-time housewife), I was personally affected by this trend. My European students were forced to leave their former culture behind, but the Mexican students had Spanish speaking teachers, Spanish letters, Spanish parent teacher meetings, and literature about Mexicans or Hispanic culture. When I complained and said asked why the Russian students did not have translators, assistants, and translated letters, I was told that it was not my business. I happened to speak a little Russian, but used it to only help the newly arrived students. I think a student who has been in America after 5 years should not need a translator!! I will note that my most successful students were Korean. They needed a little help here or there (I admit I used my Korean only after making many attempts to communicate in English)but usually were ready to pass out of ESOL within one year. Mexicans usually took 5 years. No exaggeration! That does not mean Mexicans are not as smart as Koreans. It is just that the expectations on them are lower. I have had two Mexican students pass in one year because their parents put that expectation on them. Are Mexican immigrants purposely being dumbed down to keep them as a subordinate class? That is a shame. These are the people whose ancestors who were expert mathematicians!
I admit, I used to be a multiculturalist. However, once I entered the real world, I realized multiculturalism was hurting rather than helping Americans to achieve success and the American dream. I still cook Korean and Indian food, I guess during those multiculturalist years I got so used to eating spicey food that I can’t taste American food anymore, but I make sure to teach my children the values of hard work, education, meritocracy, patriotism, and religion. It will only help, rather than hurt them. (I believe Anglo-Saxons aren’t the only ones to have those values by the way!!)
I hope to find this book soon.
